Millennials: The Stressed-Out Generation – what’s the cause?

In the annual stress report published by the American Psychological Association in 2018, it was found that millennials, those born between the years 1980 and 1995, are the most stressed out generation[1]. Since their entry into the workforce, millennials have been struggling with managing life’s pressures. The reasons for such challenges have been attributed to two main causes: technology and work-life.

It’s undeniable that technology has rapidly become one of the defining characteristics of modern life. However, a societal addiction to this technology seems to be an unfortunate consequence of its impact on our lives. With around 63 percent of millennials admitting to phone or tablet addictions, it’s evident that digital detoxes and limiting our use of technology is crucial in keeping a healthy mind and a healthy body. Through ZENKO’s passion for exploration and re-discovering the world’s superfoods, we strive to provide a new medium for excitement and adventure which focuses on experience, adventure and appreciating nature.

Similar to technology, work has increasingly begun to consume millennials’ time to relax. Much of this has to do with jobs extending outside of the workplace and into leisure time. Taking breaks from work is critical in maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and breaks for healthy snacking is ZENKO’s way of offering the perfect reason to take a step away and catch a breath.

With the need for energy boosts and breaks in the busy lives of millennials, ZENKO’s superfood snacks are beginning to play a part in keeping the most stressed out generation healthy for generations to come.
